Meet Our Collections Manager!

Deáni is the Collections Manager at Sncewips Heritage Museum, meaning she oversees the entire collection of belongings housed at the museum (and some satellite displays!). She has been working here since the start of 2020. She earned a BA in Anthropology from UBC, a Collections Management certification from UVic, has a background in museums prior to working at Sncewips, and has a love for working with material culture. Deáni facilitates access to the collection for the community and researchers, catalogues objects and archives, manages Westbank First Nation’s archaeological repository, works on repatriation-related projects, often has a hand in gallery/space changes and curation, and so much more. She is currently completing an MA in Archaeology and Heritage through the University of Leicester, with research interests surrounding archaeological heritage management, access, and interpretation and presentation. Outside of the museum, Deáni is usually found being a homebody reading/painting/baking bread/watching something, out in the wilderness mountain biking/paddle boarding/backpacking/skiing, and sometimes travelling (she wishes she could travel All. The. Time. to see all the natural beauty and archaeological sites in the whole wide world 😊).
